“BASIC CHRISTIANITY” with FR. Charlie  Tuesdays, September 21, October 12, November 16, 2010.  9:30am-3pm.   Fr. Charles Brinkman brings these insightful days of presentation and prayer, continuing his series of presentations from the Spring of 2010. Using the Catechism as a guide, you’ll  get a historical perspective of various topics.  Cost $25, includes lunch. PROGRAMS AND RETREATS

Private Retreat   Private Retreats can be taken at the Mount at various times when there is space available.  An application, copy of your driver’s license (or non-driver ID) and reference is needed to make a private retreat.  Cost is $90 per night weekdays, $105 per night weekends, meals included. ALFONSIAN SPIRITUALITY SERIES Tuesdays, September 28, October 26, and November 30, 2010 from 9:30am-3pm. This new program will focus on major themes in the spirituality of St .Alphonsus. “Union with Jesus” (9/28), “The Meaning of the Cross in our Lives” (10/26), and “Devotion to Mary (11/30). Also included will be the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. Great for Deacons that need Continuing Ed credits too! Given by Deacon Paul Gallagher, Pauline Founier and Julia Masseso. NATURE WEEKEND: SLABSIDES DAY

& MOHONK MOUNTAIN HOUSE

October 1-3, 2010. Celebrate Slabsides Day with John Burroughs, guest speaker,  Hudson River School presentation on the divinity of nature expressed in art,  hike the grounds of the Mohonk Mountain House.

SENIOR CITIZEN RETREAT: GLEAM (Golden Learning Experiences at the Mount) Monday-Thursday, September 13-16, 2010.  GLEAM is a four day program for seniors (55 and older) combining the spiritual, emotional and physical aspects of aging.  In the serene and beautiful setting provided by our castle on over 400 acres, participants will be offered presentations on all aspects of our health. Included with the scheduled activities is time for solitude, prayer and socializing.  Join us for four days of enlightenment and spiritual renewal in a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Our GLEAM Staff includes: Fr. Thomas Travers, C.Ss.R, Fr. Thomas Martin, C.Ss.R, Pauline Fournier, D.Min, Michael Sweeney, Dr. Ann Ramsey, Theresa Stewart, Maryann Skelly, James and Eleanor Sweeney and Bruderhof singers and musicians.              Soulful Friends: October 2, 2010:   The soul awakens through human interaction.  This workshop will illustrate the significance of multiple forms of human relationships such as mentors, directors, companions and intimate soul friends.  These allow the capacity to grow, heal, awaken and live in assurance of love and joy in God.

 

             Soulful Suffering: November 20, 2010: Suffering awakens us to depth, compassion and the experience of God.  It can also cause us to withdraw, deny and cause pain to others.  This workshop will use Jungian-Christian insights to help us be in deep suffering for spiritual transformation.

 

             Soulful Pilgrims:  February 5, 2011: Spiritual Growth is the art of consciously choosing the pilgrim journey to the Divine.  Form a Jungian archetypal understanding of pilgrim, this workshop will focus on the challenges and opportunities for us in moving towards the Center, which has heart and meaning for the journey.

 

             Soulful Service:  March 19, 2011: The Soul awakens when we have the capacity to both give and receive. This workshop will illustrate the necessity to develop a rhythm, where I can freely serve others, and where I am transformed by receiving from both God and others. The workshop  will integrate both Christian and Jungian insights.

FUNDRAISING CANTATA Wednesdays, December 1st and 8th at 7:30pm.  Hear great Christmas songs like O Holy Night, We Three Kings, O Come All Ye Faithful and many others, all sung by the Mount’s choir.  Suggested donation $5 per person. Please arrive early as large crowds are expected.  Seating is first come, first serve.

CHRISTIAN MORAL DECISION MAKING  Thursdays, October 7, 14, 21, 28, November 4, 11, 2010, 7pm-8:30pm. This new course for the Fall of 2010 is given by Dr. Pauline Fournier, D.Min. The course will focus on a case method approach, and will look at the following topics: The Case for “Preference for the Poorest”, A Christian Approach to the Environment, Conflicts with Limited Natural Resources, A Matter of Life or Death, and other moral issues.  Cost $10 per session. SPIRITUALITY OF QUILTING Saturday, November 6, 2010. 9:30am-3:30pm. Throughout the history of many cultures, including our own American culture, there has been a long tradition of women coming together to weave into fabric those experiences in their lives that have touched them and that have added meaning to their lives. This day is for both beginners and experienced quilters. Focus will be placed on how quilting can be integrated into our spiritual journey. Presented by Anne Pomeroy. FALL MIGRATION, RESPECT & LOVE FOR OUR WORLD  Friday-Sunday, October 1-3, 2010. Come from the entire weekend, of just for parts.  This weekend is for lovers of birds, butterflies, trees, flowers and nature. Saturday Program:  (begins at 9am)  At the height of  “Fall Bird Migration” Fr. Tom Martín Deely invites nature and bird enthusiasts to spend a very active weekend walking the length and breadth of Mt. St. Alphonsus´s 412 acres. Besides indentifying by ear and sight the various migrating birds, butterflies, raptors etc., we will visit some interesting ecological and historical sites on our propery with Mr. Brian McPhillips, long time Central Park  Birder and naturalist and Mr. Rusty Johnson, falconer, Amazon Tour Guide and author “The Twilight of the Wild “. will accompany the group along with Fr. Tom Martín Deely. Sunday Program: .  After Sunday Breakfast at 8am, Fr. Deely will share an ecological perspective from the Roman Catholic tradition.  Others will be invited to share their perspective on nature and the environment from Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist  or their own personal  perspectives.  Also on Sunday Morning just before lunch there will be an interfaith worship and praise service on the property.  Cost: Full Weekend (including Friday night) $180.  Weekend (minus Friday night) $140.  Saturday/Sunday with lunch (commuters) $70.  Saturday or Sunday with lunch (commuters) $35. Family Faith Formation Day for Hispanics (a Spanish Program).  Sept 19th from 9am till  4 pm  with an open air Mass in the beautiful Mount surroundings on 9W in Esopus.    The day will be an opportunity to celebrate our love for Christ and Mary and enjoy the stunning surroundings of the Mount.   We will speak of our Baptismal mission in the Church.  Families will prepare posters on those human and Christian values they endeavor to live as a Catholic family.  Fr. Travers and Deely have worked over 35 years in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.  We invite families to bring their favorite foods.  We will have coffee, juice, pastry, soda, sándwiches and cookies.   To take care of the day´s expenses there will be both free will offerings and a collection at the closing Mass.  The expenses would involve about  $5 pers  person.  You may sign up calling Fr.
