Text Box: The Shrine will consist of more than 4000 memorial bricks, all placed on sacred ground.  Watching over our shrine will be statuary, including a large statue of St. Gerard Majella.   St. Majella is the patron saint of mothers and the unborn. He lived in the 1700’s, dying at twenty nine years of age.

Text Box: The Shrine for the Unborn at Mount Saint Alphonsus, known as The Shrine of the Holy Innocents, will become one of the largest shrines dedicated to babies unborn and babies born too soon.  

The concept for the Shrine began in September 2008, when the Shrine’s project manager suffered the loss of a baby that was in the womb for 14 weeks.  Since then, men and women have come forward that have shared their story and joined in making this sacred ground even more so, as it has become a place where we can all remember our babies in heaven. 

One mother recently purchased a memorial brick in honor of her baby.  She shed tears of joy as she remember the baby that she lost more than 50 years ago.  She felt comforted, knowing that her baby has been given the dignity that she has wanted to give for decades.
